Yuan-Hao Liu
Xiamen Humanity Hospital BNCT Center
Liu, a physicist with a focus on Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), obtained his Ph.D. from the National Tsing Hua University of Taiwan in 2009. Following this achievement, he spent a year at the Joint Research Centre in Petten. Upon completing his studies, Liu joined the Nuclear Science and Technology Development Center at NTHU, where he was responsible for the THOR reactor-based BNCT project. In August 2010, the project achieved its first successful BNCT treatment.
In 2014, Liu transitioned to a new role at the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is also the founder of Neuboron Medtech Ltd., which has since evolved into the Neuboron Medical Group. Between 2019 and 2021, Liu contributed to the establishment of the first accelerator-based BNCT center in China, located at the Xiamen Humanity Hospital. On October 9, 2022, the hospital and Neuboron Medical Group accomplished the first in-hospital BNCT treatment outside of Japan, marking twelve years since the initial BNCT case at THOR.
Liu has been serving as a Member at Large on the Executive Board since 2016 and as a Councillor of the International Society for Neutron Capture Therapy (ISNCT) since 2010.
